Hello Current and Future Members!
Thank you all for your patience, but I finally have good news for you – Track is back! (and field as well).
As your new Club Manager for London Western, my first message is to confirm that we have booked TD Stadium beginning August 10 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the month of August.
That said, there are a few restrictions and protocols that will be in place to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
Firstly, you should familiarize yourself with Athletics Canada’s ‘Back on Track’ guidelines available here - https://athletics.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Back-on-Track-guidelines-July-21.pdf.
You should also read the attached ‘Return to Practice’ document that Derrick had circulated earlier.
Before you arrive at the facility, you MUST HAVE done the following:
Registered for the outdoor season with London Western Track & Field Club;
Registered with Athletics Ontario (non-competitive recreational membership is fine);
Signed off on the ‘assumption of risk’ waiver that you receive directly from Athletics Canada;
Answer NO to all of the questions on the attached excel ‘Athlete Check-in’ document
Upon arrival, facility and/or club staff will be at the main gate with a list of those who have registered and completed the necessary paperwork.
***ANYONE MISSING A REQUIREMENT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY***
We will have to manage space and numbers, so once you have checked in, report directly to your coach at your event area. They will serve as our ‘Health and Safety Officers’ by confirming that you have not experienced any symptoms or been potentially exposed to anyone with the virus.
As mentioned, there are some restrictions on numbers, so we will have to monitor training areas. With the endurance group training offsite, we should be Ok, but the facility is allowing a maximum of 50 people on the main track and field, and an additional 50 people on the lower throws/jumps area. Please consult the Team App and/or communicate with your coaches to confirm your training times.
While I recognize that there will be challenges, we are moving in a positive direction, so please respect the protocols that are in place for the health and safety of everyone involved.
