Our memberships no longer include your Athletics Ontario membership and it is mandatory to participate in practices with our club.  So, effective January 1st, 2020, click on the below link to register with Athletics Ontario, prior to registering with London Western. You have the option of choosing a seasonal AO membership, or a full year.  Choose based on the membership you have with us.  If you do not intend on competing, then you can choose Non-comp. Athlete, but you will not be able to compete at provincial or national championships with this option.  When filling out the form, be sure to list London Western as your club and list your event coach. Event coaches are listed in our Members Handbook.

This program exposes kids to all event disciplines in the sport; endurance, sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws.  Our goal is to expose kids to a sport that is the foundation for all other sports and an overall improvement in your child's athleticism. This will benefit all activities they participate in, and we strongly encourage kids to participate in other sports.  Specializing in a sport at this age is counter to the Long Term Athlete Development Model.


We have 2 groups in this program, based on age.  Those groups are 7-10yrs and 11-13yrs.  The 11-13yrs group has more hours of training and will have competitive opportunities both indoors and outdoors.  The emphasis here is on bridging the gap from elementary school to high school.  The 7-10yrs group is more focused on learning the sport and being exposed to all event disciplines within track and field. Emphasis is on providing a fun and challenging environment.  Both programs are rooted in the Long Term Athlete Development Model.


JD 7-10yrs: Born 2010-2013 (for 2019/2020 season)

Indoor practices are Mondays/Wednesdays 6-7pm at Thompson Arena

Outdoor practices are Tuesdays/Thursdays 6-7pm at TD Stadium


JD 11-13yrs: Born 2007-2009 (for 2019/2020 season)

Indoor practices are Mondays/Wednesdays 6-7pm and Saturdays 9-10am at Thompson Arena

Outdoor practices are Tuesdays/Thursdays 6-7:30pm at TD Stadium

*XC practices will start on SEPTEMBER 10th and will take place on Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm for this group.  Tuesdays at Gibbons Park (meet at the pavilion), Thursday at Brescia Hill (meet at the bottom of hill on Brescia Lane, just off of Sarnia Rd) This session is open to those born from 2006-2012


14yrs+: Born 2006 or earlier

This program is the next step after our JD program.  You must be at least 14 years old and all abilities are welcome.  Athletes still learning the basics of track and field may find themselves training alongside an aspiring national team member.  It's a unique training environment managed by our top level coaches.  As you get older and more developed as an athlete, programming and periodization play a larger role in your training. At this level, you will go in 1 of 2 directions: endurance or power/speed.  Our endurance group caters to 800m and up, while the power/speed covers all sprints and field events.  Within the power/speed group, there are multiple sub-groups: sprints, hurdles, jumps, pole vault and throws.

CROSS COUNTRY - Starting Monday Aug. 19th, 2019

MONDAYS: 6-8pm 


SATURDAYS: 10am-12pm

All of the event groups, with the exception of the endurance group, meets for base training before the indoor season gets started.  That starts up on Sept. 23, 2019 and the schedule is as follows...

INDOOR SEASON (2019/2020)

Club practice times are Mondays/Wednesdays/Saturdays/Sundays, but each group doesn't practice every one of these days.  Monday/Wednesday practice times will range from 6-9pm.  Saturdays range from 9am-12pm and Sundays 9-11am.  A detailed practice schedule can be found in our app.  App download details are provided once you register.  If you have practice schedule concerns prior to registering, please contact us for details.  All indoor practices are at Thompson Arena


Practices are generally Monday/Wednesday 6-8pm and Saturday 10-12pm.  Some groups practice Friday 6-8pm, instead of the Saturday. Our collegiate program caters to university athletes looking for a place to train when school is out.  A large majority of these members are on Western's track and field team, but we also welcome other varsity athletes from schools across Canada and the US.  Our post-collegiate program is not an open membership.  Due to the unique nature of training required and the level of athletes we currently have in this group, please contact us for more info.
