Outdoor Season Hits Full Stride

It's early season, but our high school athletes are already busy, having 3 competitions under their belt, including the Forest City Mustang Invitational, to which London Western played a major role in organizing. There have already been plenty of personal bests, which is great for this time of year. While our high school athletes are busy representing their respective schools, our elites are just getting their outdoor season started and there's plenty of action ths weekend. Canadian marathon record holder, Lanni Marchant, is in California to run the 10K at the Payton Jordan Invite tomorrow night. Marchant is currently ranked #1 in Canada for the event with a 32:11.06.

A large contingent is currently in Lexington, KY, competing at the Kentucky Relays on Saturday. Damian Warner, Jen Cotten, Caroline Ehrhardt, Robbie Gallaugher, Joy Spear Chief-Morris and Alicia Smith. The group is looking to lay down some big performances in their quest to represent Canada at the Pan Am Games and World University Games this summer. After the Kentucky Relays, they will head down to Athens, GA for the Georgia Invitational on May 9th. Robin Bone will join the group in Georgia as she looks to open her outdoor season, after having a phenomenal indoor season.

Back home, the 2nd installment of the SWO Field Series takes place on Sunday. Ami Schimanski and Tim Hendry-Gallagher will be throwing hammer and shot, respectively. Those of you looking for something to do, should stop by to watch them!
