London Western's Para Athletes Set To Shine on World Stage

(L-R: Madison Wilson-Walker, John Allan, Kevin Strybosch and Cody Salomons)

While most of our club member's were on a well-deserved break in August, Madison Wilson-Walker, Cody Salomons and Kevin Strybosch were still busting their butts. While most of the club is just getting started up, this crew is just finishing, and on a high note! On Monday, while everyone else was recovering from eating too much turkey, they were on a flight to Doha, Qatar for the IPC World Track and Field Championships. To maintain a competition-ready level of fitness well into October is no easy task. Our hats off to Chris Williams (Madison and Cody's coach) and John Allan (Kevin Strybosch's coach) for keeping these athletes ready to go. Truly impressive work. John will also be in Doha, as he was selected to be the throws coach for Team Canada at these championships.

Cody and Kevin both represented Canada at the Para Pan Am Games in Toronto this past summer, but this is Madison's first national team. On making the team, "I would've never thought I'd make it this far...but the fact I get to compete in 3 events there is unbelievable. I'm so pumped!"

Action gets underway October 21st. Follow along on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

London Western has put 14 athletes and 1 coach on 5 different national teams in 2015. That success is a direct testament to the strength of our coaching staff and work ethic of our athletes. With Rio2016 less than a year away, we are poised to have strong club representation at the most imporant meet in an athlete's career, the Olympic Games.
