Our cross country team toed the line in Kingston this past weekend and we had one of our best results in years! With 5 full teams competing and athletes in 6 age categories, it was 1 of our biggest teams, too. We had 6 athletes in the top 20, led by Jack Sheffar finishing 5th in the Junior Men's race and Lanni Marchant finishing 6th in the Senior Women's race. Other top 20 finisheers include, Amanda Truelove (12th), Matt Sheeler (15th) Becky Pieterson (19th) and Brad Sheeler (20th).
Our top team finish was 2nd, coming from our Senior Women. Led by Marchant who finished 6th, Amanda Truelove was 12th, Becky Pieterson 19th and Emma Tallman 39th. They finished behind defending championship Speed River.
The Youth Boys finished 6th overall and were led by Brad Sheeler, who finished 20th. The Junior Men also finished 6th, led by previously mentioned Jack Sheffar in 5th. The Senior Men, led by Kevin Blackney (29th), finished 11th overall in an incredibly deep field. And, our Youth Girls finished 16th overall, led by new member, Martina Tait (68th).
2015 truly has been a phenomenal year for London Western, so it comes as no surprise that our XC team did so well.
Congrats to all those that competed this past weekend. We are all looking forward to what you can do on the track in 2016!
