Congrats on a great weekend for our London Western team members. We had athletes from our group competing in Canadian University XC Championships, Canadian College XC Championships, as well as the AOXC Championships. Needless to say it was busy, but showed great success.
The weekend started on Saturday with the CCAA meet in Sault Ste. Marie with Chris Caddey (Mohawk) nabbing a 17th place finish and Justin Attfield (Fanshawe) copping a 22nd as one of the top rookies on the day. Fanshawe placed 2nd as a team.
(Our Jr. Men took home to title this weekend at AOXC Champs! L-R: Mitch Heyink, Aiden Attema, Hunter McIlmurray, Brad Sheeler, Coach Dave Mills)
In the CIS championships, the Western men with 3 London Western athletes (Jack Sheffar 9th, Matt Sheeler 46th and Thomas deVries 69th) brought home the team bronze medal. At the same meet, London Western's Phil Parot-Migas scored a big win in the citizen's 5k race run on the university course, defeating a field that included 2016 Olympian Charles Philibert-Thiboutot.
