Owen McDonald Sets New Provincial Record!


It was a smaller contingent of athletes from our club at this year's Legion National Championship, but what they lacked in size, they made up for in performance. The small numbers were likely due to the event being in Brandon, MB.

Owen McDonald broke the provincial record to take silver in the U16 Boys Pentathlon

5 medals coming home!

Owen McDonald - U16 Boys Pole Vault Silver with 3.50m and silver in Pentathlon with 3160pts (11 out of first). Owen had a fantastic finish to the pent, with a gutsy run in the 1000m to establish a new pent best in the event with a run of 2:48.25. Owen is your new Athletics Ontario Provincial Record Holder in the event, breaking the previous mark of 3004pts set in 2012.

Matt MacNeill - U18 Boys 110mH Bronze 14.38s. Matt also finished 5th in long jump with 6.81m (5cm out of bronze) and 7th in a deep field for 400mH with 55.72s.

Calum Doherty - Bronze in U18 Boys Decathlon with a new personal best score of 5520pts.

Team dinners are always an important part of the trip. All about bonding.

Other results include Mackenzie Oke in U18 Girls Javelin, who finished 13th with a throw of 33.33m. Owen Mueller was 6th in U18 Boys Discus with a throw of 41.22m. Natasha Gubbels was 7th in U18 Girls Shot Put with a throw of 12.38m. Mason Campbell finished 8th in U18 Boys High Jump with a clearance of 1.76m. Tyrone Traher was 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 800m and 1500m. He ran 1:59.11 and 4:14.16.

This concludes the 2017 outdoor season. Congrats to all of our members for a fantastic outdoor campaign. We are back-to-back club champions, having won the 2016 outdoor season title, as well as the 2017 indoor title. With a strong outdoor season, we wait to see if we have a 3-peat. Thank you to all the coaches for your tireless commitment to our athletes. Thank you to the parents that volunteer their time for our various events throughout the year; without your help, these events don't happen. You are a very important part of our success!

Calum Doherty set a new pb in the U18 Boys Decathlon to take bronze. Coach Liz is a big part of that success.

As 1 season ends, another begins. Our XC season starts up today! Those of you now on break, enjoy it and see you in the fall. Those of you starting up XC, best of luck this season!
