Erik and John all smile after a surprise win in U20 Men's Javelin

Erik Tyler wins junior men's javelin

Having never thrown over 60m before, he was ranked 4th coming in. Sitting 4th after 4 rounds, with a personal best throw, he launched another personal best of 64.95m in round 5 to take the lead. That was 5m over he's previous personal best and he hung on for the win! We aren't sure who's more excited, him or coaches John and Sylvia!

Kate Current makes her first senior national championship final

Kate ran a personal best 4:20.08 on Saturday to take the 2nd last spot in the final. After a good night's rest on Saturday night, she toed the line for the final on Sunday moving up a spot to finish 10th overall in another personal best run of 4:19.28. This is Kate's first year racing the 1500m and her first time running under 4:20!

Kate had a great weekend with 2 personal bests in the 1500m.

Joy Spear Chief-Morris in tightest race ever

Fresh off her 5th place finish in the 100H at FISU, Joy was ready for a big race. Winning her semi-final section to get the auto Q, put her lane 6 for the final. With a not-s0-great start, she found herself chasing everyone through the whole race and managed to claw back to be neck and neck with everyone coming off the 10th hurdle. In what was likely the tightest race in national championship history, Joy finished 6th in a time of 13.39s, a mere 0.08s out of first. The top 3 all ran 13.31s and had to go to the thousandths to break the tie.

Caroline Ehrhardt wins 8th title.

Swirling winds caused issues on the runway, making it tough to produce big jumps, but Ehrhardt continues to display her dominance in the event, with her 8th national title in 9 years. She is now in Europe for the next month to train and compete, looking to launch that 14m jump!
